Courtesy of John Lundburg, here are some rare shots of the late Robin Williams undergoing his makeup transformation into Andy Kaufman’s grandmother for Andy’s Carnegie Hall show. Williams would of course wear a very similar makeup years later for the film “Mrs. Doubtfire”.

All they want to talk about is how much drugs Kurt and I did. That is not all we did. We had a life. We ate breakfast. We ate lunch. We ate dinner. We rented movies, and ate ice cream. We would read out loud to each other almost every night, and we prayed every night. We had some fucking dignity. - Courtney Love

The funniest people I know were, not necessarily troubled, but had a harder time in school or were shy or picked on or something like that. I think that you rely on it. ‘Well, I don’t think I’m cute and no one wants to hang out with me - I’d better start trying to make people laugh.’ I think there’s an element of that in there.
